![]() Despite his mother's displeasure, he decided to give it a shot. Austin has no previous building expertise and had dabbled in demolition informally while in college to make a quick buck. Austin holds a bachelor's degree in biology and was looking for work until Tad Starsiak, an old college friend, asked him to join the team for the pilot episode. (Image Source: Twitter) Austin Aynes (Demolition Crew)Īustin Aynes, a non-family member of the crew, joined the team part-time in 2016 as a demolition crew member. Cory is mostly responsible for scouting new properties alongside Tad. He has a girlfriend named Shelby, and the two of them have a lot of cute animals together (including two pigs and several chickens). According to his Linkedin page, Cory is very passionate about all things construction and "eats, sleeps, and breathes construction." Cory is from a large family (though his parents are divorced). He's a high school acquaintance of Mina's from her youth. Karen and Mina are not related in any way to Cory Miller. (Image Source: Twitter) Cory Miller (Project Manager) Tad's stepfather is also a member of the group, but we'll get to that later. Tad is witty, pleasant, and talented, and he seems to get along well with Karen and Mina (the half-siblings seem close). Tad had a falling out with his father after Cheryl died, so he went into the Karen-Mina camp and became a full-time member of Two Chicks and a Hammer. Casey married Cheryl and had two children with her, Jess and Tad, after Karen and Casey (Mina's father) split (they share three children). Mina's father had a second marriage, and he is her half-brother. Project manager Thadeus "Tad" Starsiak is in charge of the demolition crew. (Image Source: Twitter) Tad Starsiak (Project Manager) Mina met her husband Steve on Facebook and had one bad meeting with him, but she decided to give him another chance, and they married in 2016. The mother-daughter team was contacted by HGTV for a reality show after 7 years of renovating and remodelling homes in Indianapolis. Karen and Mina founded Two Chicks and a Hammer in 2008, and they haven't looked back since. She didn't know what she wanted to do with her life at the moment, but when she bought her first property for $37,000 and refurbished it with her mother Karen, she discovered her true calling. Mina received her bachelor's degree from Indiana University and began working as a waitress to help pay the bills. (Image Source: Twitter) Mina Starsiak Hawk (Host) She is currently married to Roger, her fourth husband, and they have a happy life together. ![]() Karen divorced Mina's father and remarried twice before settling down with her current husband. Karen also enjoys personalising places with artwork from local artists and including green spaces whenever possible. She also contributes legal expertise and community sensitivity to the team. Karen is known for her hippy aesthetic, and she usually concentrates on recycling old furniture and DIY projects for any remodelling projects they are working on. Karen (the Two Chicks' mother) used to work as a defence attorney! She left her legal career to start a home renovation company with her daughter Mina. Karen and Mina own and operate Two Chicks and a Hammer, a restoration firm with a slew of talented staff, some of whom appear on 'Good Bones' on a regular basis. Essentially, they buy sad old derelict houses (some for dirt cheap!) and then deconstruct and rebuild them from the ground up. It's presented by a mother-daughter team who prefer to refer to themselves as "home rehabbers" rather than "house flippers." Karen (the mother) and her daughter Mina insist on trying to restore Indianapolis one decaying house at a time. HGTV's 'Good Bones' isn't your typical home remodeling show. Laine and Mina Starsiak Hawk, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, are a mother-daughter team that buys and rehabilitates the most dilapidated homes in their hometown. Since then, the reality TV show has aired five seasons, the most recent of which premiered on June 8, 2020. The first season of the show aired on March 22, 2016, and consisted of 11 episodes. Good Bones is an HGTV reality show that airs on a global scale.
